Downtown Development Digest
Spire East Fifth
3/12/15

Everyday, more and more people are moving into the downtown area. Austin is having to get more creative with ways to use space like larger cities such as San Francisco, NYC and Tokyo have done. One way to do this is by providing micro housing, tiny residential units with floor plans using less than 400 square feet.

Austin realtor, Taylor Wilson, wants to bring the concept of micro housing to East Austin with a new mixed-use development, called Spire East Fifth. The development is planned to be on Fifth Street between Waller and Attayac streets. Wilson has partnered with Kelly Grossman Architects, Urban Landscape Architects and Big Red Dog Engineering to help bring this vision to life.

Residential Series: How to Get Your Home Ready to Sell

Wednesday, March 11th, 2015 at 5:23pm. 296 Views, 0 Comments.

There are several things you can (and should!) do to maximize your home’s full potential before putting it on the market.  Here’s what we recommend:

Curb appeal is vital!  Spruce up your home’s exterior with inexpensive shrubs and brightly colored flowers. Entryways are also important, and should be as welcoming as possible—including a bench, flowers, artwork and even maybe cookies will make buyers feel at home right away!
  2. Be ready to show at any time.  From the moment you start showing your home, keep it maintained and ready for a showing at any time.  Showings can be last minute, and it’s a good idea

1.  Counter Café:  Open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch, Counter Café has been an affordable Austin staple for years.  Most Austinites are probably familiar with the long-time Lamar location.  However, many may not know about the newer East Austin location that just opened under a year ago in a larger location on East 6th. Downtown Development Digest: Seaholm Art Wall

Downtown Development Digest:
Seaholm Art Wall
2.26.15

A significant part of the overall Seaholm District Master Plan is the design of the Seaholm Substation Art Wall. This wall is an artistic approach to the downtown infrastructure. The City of Austin is excited to incorporate the presence of art and culture within the district, setting a standard in public art on a national level.

While there is an artistic approach, the structure is also being built for safety. According to the city of Austin, it “will keep the public safe, keep the substation secure, and be a sculptural response to the practical need for a wall.” The artist, Nader Tehrani, and his design team are carrying out this need to make the district safer and more aesthetically
