For Merrill Alley, design is all about the people. Her passion for design is driven by building meaningful relationships with clients to create a space that encompasses their desires, collaborating with teams of talented architects and builders to create spaces that are meaningful, and working with skilled craftsmen and makers to bring the vision to life.
Since joining Urbanspace in 2010, Merrill and her team have worked with a diverse group of clients on countless luxury homes in Austin and beyond. Whether the project be residential, hospitality, or boutique commercial, Merrill’s passion for design and meticulous attention to detail are what set the firm’s work apart.
Most recently, she led the team at Urbanspace on their first hospitality endeavor, Codependent, which is a cocktail bar and cafe concept located at the base of The Independent.
In addition to the numerous residential and boutique commercial projects underway, Merrill is also spearheading Urbanspace’s second hospitality project, Bacalar, which will be a restaurant inspired by the vibrant, layered, and complex flavors of Mexican cuisine. Anchoring the ground level of the 44 East Ave condominium tower Bacalar will transport its guests to the Yucatan in Mexico while sitting on the shore of our very own Lady Bird Lake.
Consistently trying to find a balance between work and play, Merrill lives in her corner of Austin with her husband, Tim; daughter, Clark; and their crazy poodle, Charlie.
